Back in Control

Back in Control: A Surgeon’s Roadmap Out of Chronic Pain is the best-selling book by Dr. David Hanscom. The book outlines the doctor’s ground-breaking multi-pronged method for how to conquer debilitating chronic pain. His approach is to eliminate pain is to “calm and re-route your nervous system.” He tackles this issue not only as a doctor, but from his perspective as a chronic pain sufferer for 15 years. His approach evolved from his own experience.

About the author: Dr. Hanscom spent 32 years in practice as an orthopedic complex spinal deformity surgeon in Seattle, WA, but doesn’t believe all issues are solved by surgery. He believes and has seen in his own practice that life situations have an incredible impact on care and outcomes for those battling disease or pain. His mission is to re-introduce true healing into medicine.

“We control one thing in life: our reactions. Read David’s book and learn how to reprogram them and take charge of your life. View any suffering as temporary labor pains that come with creating a life free from pain.” —Bernie Siegel, MD, author of many books including The Art of Healing: Uncovering your Inner Wisdom and Potential for Self-Healing
